No time to do a proper blog post, but I just had to share – I’ve developed a new schedule for this term and it’s working really well. It seems to allow lots of time for going outside, bookwork, free time for all of us (which is really important) and both boys have 2 hours of project time in the late afternoon. Pokemon Boy is back on track with his Game Design courses and Drama King is finding all about how pasta is made from wheat, with the aim of making his own spaghetti bolognese by the end of term.
Reptile Boy is only doing a little bit of ‘homeschooling’ on the days when he is not at pre-school but he is impressing us all by his progress in reading, writing and maths. After the difficulty running science classes over in Marrickville I am staying closer to home this term and instead running a few science sessions for kids his age from our apartment.
Plus I bought Drama King a doumbek (Middle Eastern drum) for his birthday without even guessing that our lovely nanny Sarah Mermaid might be able to play it. Of course she can – she’s a multi talented belly dancer! So he’s already learned a few rhythms from the app on her iPhone. We’re definitely looking forward to the next Manly Noise Parade!
In this part of the world many homeschoolers find that Term 3 is the tough one. I think Term 2 was our low point and I really think we are all back and raring to go this term.
